The Extended
Family Scrapbook
This past summer my mother, Alice, came to live at Merino Adult Family Care Home.  After being widowed she was not able to live alone and adequately take care of herself.  My sisters and I were not able to give our mom the proper care she requires and have put our faith in Daysi.  such loving care.  Daysi and Juan make sure that Alice’s every need is met, going above and beyond in every area, with the respect and consideration as if she were a member of their immediate family.

Alice is in a warm, comfortable home environment where she receives quality care physically, emotionally, and socially. Every day involves delicious food, therapy, clean surroundings, kindness, and stimulation.  All of her health care issues are managed and appropriately handled with dignity.  Transportation to doctors’ appointments is taken care of, often with an extra reward of a lunch out afterwards!  This is such a relief to our family, many of whom are not close by.   We do not have to worry that our mom has been neglected in any way.  Daysi’s experience and knowledge of the elderly is apparent.  In addition to meeting basic needs, she has even incorporated extra activities into the daily schedule, such as computer skills and painting.  She anticipates ways to challenge Alice’s mind and focus her spirit.  Connections with family through emails, phone calls, and pictures are highly encouraged.  Daysi, along with the amazingly helpful jJuan even make sure that our mom feels good about her appearance by assisting her with her hair style and nails.  The small things truly do separate this home from larger, less personal assisted living facilities.

The love shown to our mother is so appreciated by our family.  The quality of life for Alice has improved greatly and we owe it to Daysi and Juan’s attention to detail and compassion.

It is with great pleasure that I recommend Daysi Merino and Merino Adult Family Care Home.   After a five year nightmare associated with three assisted living facilities and two nursing homes, my mother, Jean V.D has been in Daysi's and her family loving care since September 2007.

Daysi and her staff have always displayed a high degree of respect, integrity, responsibility, and attention for my mother.

Sincerely,
R.C V.D

As a Registered Nurse and working for hospice, I have visited many homes.  But I must emphasize the care at Merino AFCH.  They truly believe in the power of love.  Daysi, Juan and the family are dedicated and sympathetic to the residents they care for.  God bless them.

What a fabulous place for my mother to be. I know they care for my mom, love her, and respect her needs and dignity. Thanks for all you do!

April 2012

Just over one year ago I found Merino AFCH for my mother Ruth L. At that time my mother was experiencing great dementia. My family and I didn't see Mom being on this earth much longer. For months Mom adjusted to her situation and by the later part of last year Mom's condition seem to start improving. Her quality of life has returned to a large degree. Through the care, love and concern shared with Mom (and the rest of my family) by Daysi, Juan and the Merino/Diaz kids and the other residents miracles have occured. I certainly cannot leave out the wonderful folks from Hospice and their incredible support.

Recently, Mom began requesting to go to church. Today the Merinos took Mom to church! All I can say is the Merinos and their team are wonder workers. Thank you all from the bottom of my heart!
